Fresh Mango Juice Recipe

🥭 Recipe Note: For the best Fresh Mango Juice, use fully ripe, sweet mangoes for a naturally delicious flavour. Add the cold water gradually to achieve your preferred consistency, and adjust the lime juice to taste. Sugar is optional, so taste before adding any. Strain the juice if you prefer a smoother texture, or leave the pulp in for extra fibre. Serve chilled with ice and fresh mint, and refrigerate leftovers in a covered container for up to 2–3 days.

Equipment

  • 1 Sharp Chef’s Knife
  • 1 Chopping Board
  • 1 Large Spoon –
  • 1 Blender
  • 1 Fine-Mesh Sieve, Optional
  • 1 Measuring Jug And Tablespoon
  • 1 Six Serving Glasses
  • 1 Large Jug

Ingredients

  • 6 Medium Ripe Mangoes
  • 750 ml Cold Drinking Water
  • 2 Tablespoons Fresh Lime Juice
  • 2–4 Tablespoons Granulated Sugar - Optional
  • 1–2 Cups Ice Cubes - For Serving
  • 6 Fresh Mint Sprigs - Optional

Instructions

Step 1: Wash And Prepare The Mangoes

  • - Rinse all six mangoes thoroughly under clean running water before cutting them.
  • - Place each mango on a stable chopping board. Cut down either side of the flat central stone to remove the two large cheeks.
  • - Score the flesh into cubes without cutting through the skin, then scoop the cubes into a bowl with a spoon.
  • - Trim any remaining edible flesh from around the stone, taking care to avoid the tough central part.
  • - Discard the skins and stones.
  • Time: Approximately 5–7 minutes.

Step 2: Blend The Mango Flesh

  • - Transfer the mango cubes into your blender.
  • - Add approximately 400–500 ml of the cold water, reserving the remainder for adjusting the consistency.
  • - Blend for 30–60 seconds, or until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
  • - Stop the blender and check the texture. If the mixture is too thick to blend properly, add a small splash of water and blend again.
  • For particularly ripe, juicy mangoes, you may need less water. The aim is to retain the fruit's rich flavour rather than produce a thin, diluted drink.

Step 3: Strain The Juice, If Desired

  • - Position a fine-mesh sieve over a large jug.
  • - Pour the mango purée into the sieve in manageable batches.
  • - Use the back of a spoon to press the mixture gently, allowing the liquid to pass through while catching coarse fibres.
  • - If the remaining pulp seems thick, add a little of the reserved water and press again.
  • Straining is optional. If you enjoy a thicker drink with more of the fruit's pulp, leave the mixture unstrained.

Step 4: Add The Lime Juice

  • - Stir in the two tablespoons of fresh lime juice.
  • - Mix thoroughly so that the citrus flavour is distributed throughout the drink.
  • - Taste a small spoonful. If the mangoes are exceptionally sweet, the lime will help balance the flavour without making the juice taste sour.
  • For the best results, add the lime gradually if you are unsure how tangy you want your Fresh Mango Juice to be.

Step 5: Adjust The Sweetness

  • - Add one tablespoon of sugar, if needed, and stir until completely dissolved.
  • - Taste the mixture before adding more.
  • - Continue with small additions until the sweetness is right for you.
  • You can leave out the sugar altogether when the mangoes are sufficiently ripe. Honey or another suitable sweetener can be used as an alternative, although each will slightly change the flavour.

Step 6: Adjust The Consistency

  • - Pour in the remaining water a little at a time.
  • - Stir after each addition and check whether the juice pours easily from the spoon.
  • - For a thick, smoothie-like drink, use less water. For a lighter juice, add more until you achieve the desired texture.
  • The ideal consistency is a matter of personal preference. A good Fresh Mango Juice Recipe should taste distinctly of mango, regardless of whether you serve it thick or thin.

Step 7: Chill The Juice

  • - Cover the jug and place it in the refrigerator for approximately 30 minutes, if time allows.
  • - Stir the juice before serving because natural settling may occur.
  • - If you need to serve it immediately, pour it over ice in chilled glasses.

Step 8: Garnish And Serve

  • - Divide the juice between six glasses.
  • - Add a few ice cubes to each glass, if desired.
  • - Finish with a small mint sprig or a thin slice of mango.
  • - Serve immediately while cold and fresh.

Notes

  • 🥭 Choose Ripe Mangoes: Use sweet, fully ripe mangoes for the best flavour and natural sweetness.
  • 💧 Adjust the Consistency: Add cold water gradually until the juice reaches your preferred thickness.
  • 🍋 Balance The Flavour: Add fresh lime juice to taste for a refreshing citrus finish.
  • 🍬 Sugar Is Optional: Taste the juice before adding sugar, as ripe mangoes may be sweet enough on their own.
  • 🥅 Strain If Desired: Strain the juice for a smoother texture, or leave the pulp in for more fibre.
  • 🧊 Serve Chilled: Enjoy your Fresh Mango Juice with ice and fresh mint for a refreshing tropical drink.
  • ❄️ Store Safely: Refrigerate leftovers in a clean, covered container and consume within 2–3 days.
