- 3 Cups Ripe Mango Chunks - Approximately 495 g
- 3 Cups Plain Natural Yoghurt - Approximately 720 g
- 1½ Cups Cold Milk - 360 ml
- 2 Tablespoons Honey - Optional
- 1 Tablespoon Fresh Lime Juice - Optional
- 1 Cup Ice Cubes - Optional
- 2–3 Fresh Mint Leaves - Optional
Step 1: Choose And Prepare The Mangoes
- Select ripe mangoes that smell sweet and yield slightly when gently pressed.
- Wash the fruit thoroughly under clean running water before peeling.
- Cut the flesh away from the stones and dice it into small chunks.
- Measure three cups of mango flesh, ensuring that no pieces of skin or hard stone remain.
For the most flavourful Mango Yoghurt Drink, avoid underripe mangoes, which can taste sour and produce a less fragrant result. If your mangoes are naturally sweet, you may not need additional sweetener.
Step 2: Add The Yoghurt And Milk
- Place the mango chunks in the blender.
- Add three cups of natural yoghurt and one cup of cold milk.
- Reserve the remaining half-cup of milk to adjust the consistency later.
- Add the lime juice if you prefer a slightly tangy finish.
Starting with less milk gives you greater control over the thickness, particularly when using Greek yoghurt or very juicy mangoes.
Step 3: Blend Until Smooth
- Secure the blender lid firmly.
- Blend on a low setting for approximately 10–15 seconds to break down the fruit.
- Increase the speed and blend for another 30–60 seconds, or until the mixture looks smooth and evenly coloured.
- Stop the blender before scraping down the sides if any mango pieces remain.
- Blend briefly again if necessary.
Avoid blending longer than necessary. Once the mango is fully incorporated and the yoghurt is smooth, your Mango Yoghurt Drink is almost ready.
Step 4: Taste And Adjust The Flavour
- Taste the blended mixture with a clean spoon.
- If the mango is naturally sweet, leave out the honey.
- If needed, add one tablespoon of honey, blend briefly and taste again.
- Add the remaining milk gradually if the drink is too thick.
- If the flavour is overly sweet, add a little lime juice and blend for a few seconds.
Adjust the ingredients gradually to achieve a balanced drink that is neither excessively sweet nor too tart.
Step 5: Chill The Drink
- For an immediately refreshing drink, add a few ice cubes and blend briefly.
- Alternatively, transfer the drink to a covered jug and refrigerate until cold.
- For a rich, thick texture, chill the mangoes and yoghurt before blending instead of adding extra ice.
If preparing the drink ahead of time, keep it refrigerated until you are ready to serve.
Step 6: Pour, Garnish And Serve
- Stir the drink gently if it has stood for a few minutes.
- Pour evenly into six small glasses.
- Garnish with a small mint leaf or a few finely diced mango pieces, if desired.
- Serve immediately while cold and creamy.
-
🥭 Choose Ripe Mangoes: Use sweet, juicy mangoes for the best flavour and natural sweetness.
-
🥛 Use Plain Natural Yoghurt: Unsweetened yoghurt provides a creamy texture and balances the mango's sweetness.
-
🍯 Adjust the Sweetness: Taste before adding honey, as ripe mangoes may be sweet enough on their own.
-
🌀 Blend Until Smooth: Blend thoroughly for a silky, lump-free drink.
-
🧊 Serve Chilled: Refrigerate the ingredients before blending or add a few ice cubes for extra refreshment.
-
🥛 Adjust the Consistency: Add milk gradually for a thinner drink or extra yoghurt for a thicker texture.
-
🍋 Add Lime Juice (Optional): A little fresh lime juice enhances the fruity flavour.
-
🌿 Garnish Before Serving: Decorate with fresh mint leaves or diced mango for an attractive finish.
-
❄️ Store Safely: Keep leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator at 4°C or below and consume within 24 hours for the best quality.
-
🌱 Make It Dairy-Free: Substitute the dairy yoghurt and milk with suitable unsweetened plant-based alternatives.
-
⚠️ Avoid Honey For Babies Under 12 Months: Omit honey when preparing drinks for infants under one year.
-
🥤 Best Enjoyed Fresh: For the smoothest texture and freshest mango flavour, serve immediately after blending.
