Equipment

  • 1 Sharp Chef’s Knife
  • 1 Vegetable Peeler: - Optional
  • 1 Chopping Board
  • 1 Citrus Juicer or Reamer
  • 1 Blender
  • 1 Fine Mesh Sieve – - Optional
  • 1 Large Jug
  • 1 Long-Handled Spoon
  • 1 Six Serving Glasses
  • 1 Measuring Jug And Measuring Spoons

Ingredients

  • 6 Medium Ripe Mangoes
  • 6 Medium Fresh Oranges
  • 500–750 ml Chilled Drinking Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Fresh Lime Juice - Optional
  • 1–2 Tablespoons Honey Or Sugar - Optional
  • 1–2 Cups Ice Cubes - Optional

Instructions

Step 1: Wash And Prepare The Fruits

  • - Rinse the mangoes and oranges thoroughly under clean running water before cutting them.
  • - Dry the fruit with a clean kitchen towel.
  • - Place the mangoes on a chopping board. Slice the flesh away from each stone, then cut it into manageable chunks.
  • - Peel the mangoes if you have not already removed the skin during cutting.
  • - Cut the oranges in half across the middle, ready for juicing.
  • Time: Approximately 4–5 minutes.

Step 2: Extract The Fresh Orange Juice

  • - Squeeze the oranges using a citrus juicer or reamer.
  • - Rotate each orange half while applying gentle pressure to extract as much juice as possible.
  • - Remove any visible seeds with a spoon or sieve.
  • - If you prefer a smoother drink, strain the orange juice to remove excess pulp.
  • Freshly squeezed oranges give Mango Orange Juice a lively flavour. Avoid scraping too deeply into the bitter white pith when preparing the fruit.
  • Time: Approximately 3–4 minutes.

Step 3: Blend The Mango Flesh

  • - Place the mango chunks in the blender.
  • - Pour in the freshly squeezed orange juice.
  • - Add 500 ml of chilled water to help the blades move freely.
  • - If desired, add the lime juice at this stage.
  • - Secure the blender lid firmly and blend for 45–60 seconds, or until the mixture looks smooth.
  • Pause the blender before checking the consistency. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more water and blend again for 10–15 seconds.

Step 4: Adjust The Flavour And Texture

  • - Taste the blended Mango Orange Juice with a clean spoon.
  • - If it is too thick, add more chilled water in small amounts.
  • - If it tastes too sweet, add a little lime juice or extra orange juice.
  • - If the fruit is not sweet enough, stir in one tablespoon of honey or sugar, blend briefly and taste again.
  • - Blend for another 10–15 seconds to distribute any added ingredients evenly.
  • Avoid adding too much sweetener at once. The natural flavour of the fruit should remain the star of the drink.

Step 5: Strain If Preferred

  • - Pour the blended drink through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean jug if you prefer a lighter texture.
  • - Use the back of a spoon to gently press the mixture through the sieve.
  • - Discard the remaining fibrous pulp, or retain it if you prefer a thicker, more substantial drink.
  • Straining is optional. Keeping the pulp retains more of the fruit's fibre than removing it completely.

Step 6: Chill And Serve

  • - Refrigerate the juice for 20–30 minutes if you want it thoroughly chilled.
  • - Alternatively, pour it into glasses over a few ice cubes.
  • - Stir the jug gently before serving because the thicker mango mixture may settle.
  • - Garnish with a thin orange slice or a small sprig of fresh mint.
  • Serve your Mango Orange Juice immediately for the freshest flavour and most appealing colour.

Notes

  • πŸ₯ Choose Ripe Mangoes: Use sweet, juicy mangoes for the best flavour and naturally rich texture.
  • 🍊 Use Fresh Oranges: Freshly squeezed oranges provide a bright, tangy citrus taste.
  • 🍯 Adjust Sweetness: Taste before adding honey or sugar, as ripe fruits may be sweet enough.
  • πŸ’§ Control the Consistency: Add chilled water gradually to achieve your preferred thickness.
  • πŸ‹ Balance the Flavour: Add a little lime juice for extra freshness, if desired.
  • 🧊 Serve Chilled: Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes or serve over ice for a refreshing drink.
  • πŸ₯€ Strain If Preferred: Strain the juice for a smoother texture, or leave the pulp for more fibre.
  • ❄️ Store Safely: Keep leftovers in a clean, airtight container in the refrigerator at 4Β°C or below and consume within 24–48 hours.
  • 🚫 Avoid Excess Sugar: Enjoy the natural sweetness of the mangoes and oranges whenever possible.
  • 🍹 Best Enjoyed Fresh: Stir well before serving, as the mango pulp may settle naturally.
