- 4 Cups Approximately 660 g Ripe Mango Chunks — Peeled and pitted mango flesh.
- 1 Cup 240 ml Fresh Lemon Juice — Approximately 6–10 lemons, depending on size and juiciness.
- 4 Cups 960 ml Cold Water — Balances the mango purée and lemon juice.
- ½ Cup 100 g Granulated Sugar — Adjust according to the sweetness of the mangoes.
- 2 Cups Ice Cubes — Chills the finished drink.
- 6 Fresh Mint Sprigs — Optional — For garnish.
- 1 Lemon — Thinly Sliced, Optional — For garnish.
- ½ Cup Diced Mango — Optional — For garnish.
Step 1: Prepare The Mangoes
- Wash the mangoes thoroughly under clean running water.
- Slice the flesh away from the stones.
- Peel the mangoes and cut the flesh into small chunks.
- Measure approximately 4 cups of mango chunks.
- Reserve a few small mango pieces for garnishing.
Ripe mangoes provide the natural sweetness and vibrant colour that make Mango Lemonade so appealing.
Step 2: Squeeze The Fresh Lemons
- Wash the lemons and cut them in half.
- Roll each lemon firmly against the chopping board before cutting to help release more juice.
- Use a citrus juicer to extract the juice.
- Remove any seeds.
- Measure approximately 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
Freshly squeezed lemon juice gives your homemade Mango Lemonade its bright, refreshing flavour.
Step 3: Prepare The Simple Sugar Syrup
- Pour ½ cup of granulated sugar and ½ cup of water into a small saucepan.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir continuously for approximately 2–3 minutes until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Allow the syrup to cool completely before using it.
The syrup helps the sweetness distribute evenly throughout the lemonade.
Step 4: Blend The Mangoes
- Add the prepared mango chunks to your blender.
- Pour in approximately 1 cup of cold water.
- Secure the blender lid.
- Blend on high speed for 45–60 seconds, or until completely smooth.
- Stop the blender and check the consistency.
The mango purée should be thick, silky and free from large fruit pieces. If necessary, blend for another 15–20 seconds.
Step 5: Strain The Mango Purée
- Place a fine-mesh sieve over a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the mango purée through the sieve.
- Use a spoon to gently press the purée through the mesh.
- Discard any fibrous material left in the sieve.
Straining is optional. Skip this step if you prefer a thicker, more substantial drink.
Step 6: Combine The Ingredients
- Pour the strained mango purée into a large glass pitcher.
- Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice.
- Pour in the cooled sugar syrup.
- Add the remaining 3½ cups of cold water.
- Stir thoroughly for approximately 30–45 seconds until well combined.
Taste the Mango Lemonade and adjust as needed:
- If it is too sweet, add a little more lemon juice.
- If it is too tart, add a small amount of sugar syrup.
- If it is too concentrated, add more cold water.
The finished drink should taste fruity, refreshing and balanced.
Step 7: Chill The Mango Lemonade
- Cover the pitcher with a lid or cling film.
- Refrigerate for at least 30–60 minutes.
- Allow the flavours to develop while the drink becomes thoroughly chilled.
You can prepare the Mango Lemonade several hours ahead and keep it refrigerated until serving.
Step 8: Garnish And Serve
- Fill six serving glasses with ice cubes.
- Pour the chilled Mango Lemonade into each glass.
- Add a few diced mango pieces.
- Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint sprigs.
- Serve immediately.
