- 500 g Fresh or Imitation Crab Meat – The heart of your Crab Salad
- 2 Cups Lettuce - Chopped
- 1 Medium Cucumber - Diced
- 2 Celery Stalks - Finely Chopped
- ½ Medium Red Onion - Finely Diced
- 1 Small Red Bell Pepper - Diced
- ½ Cup Sweetcorn Kernels
- 2 Tablespoons Fresh Parsley - Chopped
- 1 Tablespoon Fresh Dill - Chopped
- 2 Tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice
- ½ Cup Mayonnaise
- 2 Tablespoons Greek Yoghurt
- 1 Teaspoon Dijon Mustard
- 1 Teaspoon Sea Salt
- ½ Teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1 Small Garlic Clove - Minced
- 1 Large Avocado - Diced (Optional)
- ¼ Teaspoon Paprika - Optional
Step 1: Prepare All The Ingredients
Wash the lettuce, cucumber, parsley, and dill thoroughly under cold running water.
Pat everything dry with a clean kitchen towel or use a salad spinner to remove excess moisture.
Dice the cucumber, celery, red bell pepper, and red onion into small, even pieces for a balanced bite.
Chop the parsley and dill finely.
If you're using fresh crab, carefully remove any shell fragments. If using imitation crab, cut it into bite-sized pieces.
Keeping all the ingredients similar in size helps your Crab Salad look attractive and ensures every forkful contains a little of everything.
Step 2: Make The Creamy Dressing
In a small mixing bowl, combine:
½ cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Greek yoghurt
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 minced garlic clove
1 teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Whisk until the dressing becomes smooth, creamy, and well blended.
Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed by adding a little more lemon juice, pepper, or salt.
Step 3: Assemble The Salad
Place the crab meat into a large mixing bowl.
Add the diced celery, cucumber, red onion, red bell pepper, sweetcorn, parsley, and dill.
If you're using avocado, gently fold it in at this stage to avoid crushing it.
The colourful vegetables not only enhance the appearance of the Crab Salad but also add freshness and texture.
Step 4: Add The Dressing
Pour the prepared dressing evenly over the crab and vegetables.
Using a silicone spatula or large spoon, gently fold everything together.
Avoid vigorous stirring, as delicate crab meat can easily break apart.
Continue folding until every ingredient is lightly coated with the creamy dressing.
Step 5: Chill Before Serving
Cover the bowl with cling film or transfer the Crab Salad to an airtight container.
Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes.
Chilling allows the dressing to soak into the crab and vegetables, producing a richer, fresher flavour.
Step 6: Serve And Enjoy
Arrange crisp lettuce leaves on a serving platter or individual plates.
Spoon the chilled Crab Salad over the lettuce.
Garnish with extra parsley, dill, lemon wedges, a light sprinkle of paprika, or freshly cracked black pepper.
Serve immediately while beautifully chilled for the best flavour and texture.
